Isidro Del Prado Jr. overcame cramps in the early morning heats and broke his personal best in the 400 Finals finishing 5th im 48.64 breaking his previous personal best when he finished 2nd at the PNG last year in 49.01. Del Prado Jr. is coached by 2001 and 2003 SEA Games 400m Champion Ernie Candelario and had been stuck at 49 seconds before having the break through he needed under the guidance of Candelario. Candelario is a former student of Isidro Del Prado Sr. who holds the National Record in the 400m.
Del Prado Jr. now has a solid chance of making the 4x400m Relays, but that is not up for decision until after the Thailand Open.

From a young friend from South Vietnam. No team list is available yet but we will update you with the results on this page.
With alot of the team to the Asian Champs deciding to rest, a smaller contingent with around 20 of 42 slots has been sent to Vietnam. It comprises veteran and young athletes. Priority athletes Loralie Amahit and Arneil Ferrera did not take part as no hammer was avaiable, the 4×400 team bypassed the meet as they will prepare for Thailand and the two mens Marathoners are also not participating. Their are two athletes per event juniors are indicated with date of birth.
The following athletes have been sent to Vietnam. Athletes such as Palaro 400m and Hurdles champion Marilyn Avila and National Triple Jump Champion Melbert Diones will be making their début at their first international meet.
