Medina eclipses Junior Record
Francis Medina clocked a big PB in the 110 Hurdles over the .99m barriers (junior height) to clock 13.8. Which is a new National Record for hand times. The 19 year old who trains with coach Trece Academia at Perpetual currently holds the Junior Record for .99m he first broke this at the 2014 ASEAN School Games where he ran 14.52,and then improved on this at the 2015 National Open in March where he clocked 14.23.
The 1.05m record (senior height) for Juniors is still held by Patrick Unso set at the 2011 SEA Games in Palembang.
The studious Medina is not just a star athlete but also an honors student at Perpetual.
Another former ward of Trece and coach Damaso who was developed at the Leyte Sports Academy was 2014 Palaro Champion Melissa Escoton won the 100 Hurdles in a PB of 15.0, beating Renalyn Aguirre of FEU (15.2) and Josefina Baloloy of RTU (15.8). Former UAAP Champion of FEU Jeny Togle representing Phil Airforce Alliance won the womens in 16.4.
In the Mens Hurdles Ernest Obiena the SEA Games Silver medalist in the Pole Vault clocked 14.9 to beat 2014 Palaro Champion Jaime Mejia of UP (15.6) and NCAA Silver medalist Domingo Cabradilla of JRU (15.6).
FEU William Galceran continued to improve his 400 PB from 50.0 to 49.7 at the weekly relays in 400m Dash.
Former Palaro 1500 and 3000 Record Holder Joida Gagnao (FEU) won both events in the same day here.
