LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY. Central Luzon Region Athletic Association’s stand-out James Darrel Orduña did a double golden harvest. Victorious in the 5,000m run secondary boys on day 4 of Athletics events at the 2016 Palarong Pambansa here at the Albay Sports and Tourism Complex, Bicol University, Legazpi City, Albay on 14-April.

Orduña who is also the champion in the junior 3,000m steeplechase of this years’ national games. The Pulilan, Bulacan-based runner stunned other runners including Davao Region’s Germar Dave Marcelo after stepping the gas on the last 200m.

In the 400m run, John Vincent Alejandro of Western Visayas nipped SOCKSARGEN’s Marjun Sulleza. Striding in the last 20m, its been a neck-to-neck battle between the two until Alejandro finally emerged as the winner in the said event.

Alejandro who hails from Antique started training on the famous Zen Master Noel Diel program after the Palaro.

Alejandro took the 400 title in a time of 49.59, Sulleza the National Milo Little Olympic champion was second in 50.06 and local sprinter John Graciano Sapari took bronze in 50.59.

In the distaff side CALABARZON’s Jessel Lumapas also snatched laurel on the same event. Lumapas,16, who was the bronze medalist last year in Tagum took the title in 58.03 over the favorite Anjelica De Josef of Western Visayas who was silver medalist last year.

De Josef settled for bronze 59.21. Lumapas is coached by Anthony Valdez, while De Josef was using the program of pinoyathletics.

The surprise silver medalist was 15 year old twin Lenlyn Sanita of Leyte Sports Academy in 59.07. Sanita is trained by Coach Damaso.  The fourth place went to ‘bear nosed’ Jessa Mae Jarder of Negros the Silver medalist in the Junior PNG at Lingayen last month in 59.91.
