Ellah Sirilan started off her UAAP by establishing a new Record in her favorite 400 Hurdles event. This is the second year of operation of the High school girls division at the UAAP. It is the first year 400 Hurdles has been introduced for this category so their was no existing record. Sirilan who is not yet 16 is studying at the University of the East. Ellah is a great niece of the 1958 Asian Games 100m Champion Inocencia Solis.

Ellah Sirilan timed 1.05.11 just outside her best time of 1.04.75 she set 2 years ago as a 14 year old at the national open and also a 1.04.5 at NCR 2015. The later is the fastest ever time by a 14 year old Filipina in this event.

A distant second was Ellah Training Partner Irene Magclayo who clocked 1.08.64. In fact it was a podium sweep for University of the East in this event with Noribelle Lagunay earning the bronze.

Ellah will face her next major test at the NCR meet in a few days. Ellah was a disappointing sixth place in last years Palarong Pambansa 400 Hurdles Finals due to illness she had to fight through during the games. Ellah was the Palarong Pambansa elementary Girls 400 Hurdles champion in 2014.
