UAAP Highlights: Clinton! Tidies up UAAP 400M Hurdle Record

Clinton Kingsley Bautista added the 400 Hurdles title to his 100 and 200m Titles. The 23 year old FEU student who is in his final year clocked a new personal best of 52.81. His previous mark of 53.14 was done at the Singapore open last year. A member of the training pool. Clinton erased both the hand time record 53.0 of two former national athletes Junrey Bano (UST) set in 2009 and the electronic timed mark of Jose Unso (DLSU) set in 2012 at 53.59. Thus Clinton has claimed sole ownership of the 400 Hurdles UAAP Record.

He ran in the 2015 SEA Games in the 110 Hurdles taking one of the last remaining slots given by the POC-PSC Taskforce as their was a few remaining spots for those closest to the bronze. He has a lot of work to do however as the bronze medal is 51.36 last SEA Games. However Clinton has until June to knock just under 1.5 seconds off his time.

Michael Del Prado the younger son of the legendary Isidro was second in a personal best of 53.72, and Joel Hera of UST also clocked a personal best of 53.86 to nab the bronze. UAAP Junior record holder Jaime Mejia (UP)clocked a very close 53.87 for fourth place.

This is Clinton’s last playing year in UAAP. He is looking at considering a stable job with the Philippine Airforce after he graduates so he can continue his career with the national team.
