Palarong Pambansa Silver medalist Karl Aquino, in his second international meet. Took the Gold in the Boys Long Jump in the morning. Aquino is from Binan City, Laguna. Where he is coached by Henry Chaneco. At 18 years of age this is Aquino first and last ASEAN School Games. Aquino follows in the foot steps of 2015 Champion Jerry Belibestre of Bacolod who set the only record held by a Filipino at these games at 7.47m.

Another Candidate though is James Orduna, who took the Philippines second gold in the 3000m for Boys. Orduna who was silver at Palaro also, timed 8:56.50. This was the first time the 3000m run has been used at the ASEAN School Games as 2016 Prior the Boys ran a 5000m. So this is a new established record, as no current record had existed to break.

Orduna hails from Leyte, he transferred to the University of the East in Manila this last school year. He is the 2016 Palaro Champion in the Steeples and 5000m.
