Ellah Sirilan
Ellah Sirilan started off her UAAP by establishing a new Record in her favourite 400 Hurdles event. Especially relevant is this is the second year of operation of the High school girls division at the UAAP.
Furthermore it is the first year 400 Hurdles has been introduced for this category so their was no existing record. Also Sirilan, 15 is studying at the University of the East. Most Noteworthy is that Ellah is a great niece of the 1958 Asian Games 100m Champion Inocencia Solis.
Ellah Sirilan timed 1.05.11 just outside her best time of 1.04.75 she set 2 years ago as a 14 year old at the national open. And also a 1.04.5 at NCR 2015. Especially relevant is these times are the fastest ever by a 14 year old Filipina for 400 Hurdles.
While a distant second was Ellah Training Partner Irene Magclayo, who clocked 1.08.64. In addition it was a podium sweep for University of the East in this event with Noribelle Lagunay earning the bronze.
While Ellah will face her next major test at the NCR meet in a few days. Due to Illness during the games, Ellah was a disappointing sixth place in last years Palarong Pambansa 400 Hurdles. Also Ellah was the Palarong Pambansa elementary Girls 400 Hurdles champion in 2014.
