Is the a part-time faculty member of the Department of Physical Education and concurrent head of the Track and Field Program of the Ateneo de Davao University, Davao City, Philippines. Originally teaching in San Pablo City, Laguna specializing in teaching Social Studies, he is a graduate of Master of Science in Human Movement Science Major in Exercise Science from the University of the Philippines- College of Human Kinetics. He is also the event manager of the Davao City Monthly Track Meet which is the sustainable and independent Athletics meet in Mindanao region
His other credentials includes being the lone Filipino delegate at the 2014 Summer School in Sport and Social Science at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark and in the Global Dialogue Training Course of the International Sport and Culture Association (ISCA) which was held in Hong Kong (2012) and being part of the 2012 Summer School of Catholic University of Applied Sciences Berlin, Germany. He also presented research papers to different international scientific conferences which includes Ovidius University Constanta in Romania (May, 2013) and recently at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden (December, 2013) .
Writing mostly about sports science and Palarong Pambansa (National Games), his interests revolves mostly in physical education, sport for all, and sociology of sport. Currently, he is preparing for admission to a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program at the Department of Sociological Studies- University of Sheffield, UK and University of Paris-East La Marne.
Airnel is also a keen photographer and backpacker/traveler. He believes that all must be given opportunity to excel in the field of Athletics, including genuine grassroots program using genuine and scientific training programs, and participatory governance in different sports organizations.
